Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Legal Counsel (3 to 4 years PQE) to join our in-house legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the General Counsel and key business units, including Collections/Workout and Credit teams, to provide practical and strategic legal support across a range of matters.
You will be responsible for advising on loan documentation, security arrangements, recovery processes and compliance obligations, ensuring our legal framework supports the company’s growth and operational objectives.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD)
Admitted as a solicitor in Australia and holding a current practising certificate.
3 to 4 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law, commercial law or litigation, with in-house experience advantageous.
Strong understanding of loan and security documentation and enforcement processes.
Experience in drafting legal agreements and handling loan related security caveats.
Additional Information
Supporting General Counsel
Provide legal review and input on AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) queries.
Advise on general collections and recovery queries.
Respond to day-to-day legal and compliance queries from internal teams.
Supporting Collections/Workout Teams
Prepare and lodge caveats.
Draft settlement deeds for negotiated outcomes.
Supporting Credit Team
Draft and prepare loan and security documentation for large commercial loan facilities.
Manage mortgage and caveat registrations, including preparation and lodgement with the relevant land registries.
Skills & Attributes
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in plain language.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and drafting skills.
Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
Liaise with external legal advisors on matters relating to collections and recoveries.
Draft and review variation and restructuring agreements for loan facilities.
