Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our dynamic Financial Reporting and Control team on a 12-month maximum term contract to provide support to the team during the implementation of new corporate systems.

In this key role as part of the Financial Reporting & Control (FR&C) team, you will be responsible for accounting and financial control duties covering month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and maintaining a robust financial control and financial accounting environment.

You’ll also make an impact by:

Month End:

Assist in the execution of month-end, half year and year-end close processes.
Post assigned general journals and other central accounting tasks as part of the Group Finance month end close, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
Ensure journals are accurate, complete, and comply with Australian Accounting Standards (AAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as well as internal policy.

Financial Control:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data, as well as resolve and escalate reconciliation issues in accordance with policy.
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards.
Assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing audit queries.

Financial Reporting:

Assistance in preparation of notes to financial statements, notes to balance sheet and income statements
Assist in the production of monthly, half year and year end Board and Board Audit Committee reporting.
Perform variance analysis as required and ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

You’re an analytical thinker, who is detail orientated and can solve complex problems; you have excellent communications skills and a passion for accounting principles. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are driven to contribute to a dynamic team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll have the following experience:

3+ years of experience in a financial accounting function
Strong approach to financial control, particularly around the GL reconciliation process
Sound experience in use of excel in accounting processes and reporting
Ability to deliver to timelines
Strong consideration of risk in day-to-day tasks

Although not required any experience in the following would be highly desirable:

Experience with TM1 or similar application.
Other relevant experience in the Financial Services Industry
