The Business Intelligence Analyst, reporting to the Director of Analytics, supports Nelnet Financial Services by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data that drives business operations and decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical skills and is driven to increase efficiency and clarity through automation and utilizing all available tools. This position will work closely with the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to maintain and enhance existing dashboards and reports, while also offering an opportunity to work across teams, influence strategic initiatives, and develop innovative reporting solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop and Maintain Reports: Create, maintain, and enhance reports and dashboards using advanced reporting tools and technologies.

· Collaboration: Work closely with members of Nelnet Financial Services, Nelnet Bank, and other departments to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver effective reporting solutions.

· Automation: Implement automation solutions to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.

· Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by reconciling to alternate data sources when possible and assisting in efforts to clean up data when needed.

· Technical Expertise: Utilize SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel, and other tools to extract, manipulate, and visualize data.

· Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, especially in AI, automation, and data visualization, to continuously improve reporting processes and analytical capabilities.

· Maintenance and Enhancement: Work closely with, and provide backup for, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to maintain, enhance, and expand existing dashboards and reports in response to evolving business needs.

· Data Analysis: Perform detailed data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic decision-making.

· Forecasting: Utilize historical data, both internally generated and from industry peers, to derive future performance assumptions.

Salary range for this role is: $70,000-$90,000

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, information management, business administration, accounting, finance, economics or related field is preferred, but applicable experience will also be considered.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

· 2-4 years of experience in business intelligence, financial reporting, data analysis, or a related role within the financial services industry.

· Demonstrated ability to approach ambiguous problems with curiosity and structured thinking, using AI and automation tools as accelerators while applying sound judgment to validate outputs.

· Experience working with SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel, and other data analysis and visualization tools.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively explain complex concepts.

· Capability to work independently or collaborate effectively as part of a group.

· Ability to take ownership of recurring issues, investigating root causes, improving data quality, and proposing sustainable solutions rather than workarounds.

HELPFUL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience with consumer or private student loan portfolios.

· Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex functions and VBA.

· Experience with financial analytics tools such as DV01 or Intex.
