Your role in our mission
Prosper is seeking an analytically-driven, values-led VP of Marketing to accelerate our mission of advancing financial well-being. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will oversee the end-to-end marketing ecosystem - from performance-based acquisition to the launch of new borrowing and investing products. We need a leader who can mentor a talented team of 21 while maintaining a sharp focus on ROI and market-leading brand positioning. Whether you work from our San Francisco headquarters or remotely in the US, you will be the lead storyteller and strategist connecting our products to the millions who need them.
\nDrive scalable growth: You will own top-of-funnel metrics and multi-year marketing plans for our retail investor, personal loan, and credit card portfolios. You’ll determine requirements, assess support needs, build internal alignment, and deliver results that hit our aggressive volume targets. You will accelerate the development of enhanced machine learning targeting models and aggressive customer research.
Define the competitive edge: You will lead us to beat the competition at our game - not theirs. This means overseeing deep market research and competitor analysis to drive recommendations that lean into Prosper’s unique marketplace advantages. You will lead a proactive PR strategy to ensure our strengths are clearly communicated and widely recognized by the market, media, and our customers.
Influence the product roadmap: You will act as a key partner on new product design, bringing deep market intelligence and customer insights to the table to ensure our future offerings are positioned to win from day one.
Level-up the team: You’ll mentor and empower our 21-person team to be a data-first execution engine that thrives on mission-driven, high-performance culture.
Reporting to the CEO, you will work in close alignment with the President & CFO, CTO, and General Counsel to position marketing as a primary driver of Prosper’s financial and technical roadmap.
You will collaborate daily with the Heads of Product, Credit, and Operations to deliver a seamless borrower and investor experience.
You will lead a 21-person org, providing strategic oversight to your direct reports: the Sr. Director of Performance Marketing & Analytics, the Director of Web & Conversion, and the Sr. Partnerships Manager.
Fintech Leadership: 15+ years of marketing experience with a deep mastery of the personal loan and financial services landscape, including content, digital and product marketing.
The ROI mindset: A proven track record of driving ROI-positive acquisition across multiple channels, including digital, direct mail, and lead aggregators.
Data as a second language: Strong analytical rigor with the ability to use performance data to pivot strategies and uncover untapped market segments.
Executive presence: High-level communication skills with a history of presenting performance and vision to employees and the Board of Directors.
Regulatory fluency: A firm grasp of compliance and regulatory standards for advertising and acquisition in financial markets.
Academic foundation: A degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
A connected experience: We prioritize high-touch collaboration and flexibility. Whether you are working from our San Francisco or Phoenix offices or joining us as a fully remote team member, we provide the digital-first tools and intentional culture to keep you synced and supported.
Invested in your future: A competitive salary and a 401(k) with a 5% company match to help you build long-term financial security.
Holistic well-being: We provide the resources you need to thrive, from flexible time off and paid parental leave to an annual wellness allowance and comprehensive health coverage.
Professional & personal growth: Take advantage of a suite of premium perks, including Udemy access, childcare assistance, pet insurance, and a bevy of additional savings through Beneplace.
