The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Compliance Manager - Crypto (AU) to play a pivotal leadership role in establishing and shaping Pepperstone’s Australian crypto compliance function.

This is a rare opportunity to build a compliance framework from the ground up for our Digital Currency Exchange (DCE) business, at a time where the regulatory landscape is evolving and maturing. You’ll have real ownership, autonomy and visibility, working closely with senior stakeholders across Compliance, Legal, Product, Technology, Payments and Marketing.

While the primary focus is Australia, you’ll also contribute to regional and global initiatives as part of Pepperstone’s broader Legal, Compliance and Risk function.

As our Senior Compliance Manager - Crypto (AU), your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Establish and lead the Australian compliance framework for Pepperstone’s crypto business
  • Design, implement and maintain AML/CTF and broader compliance policies aligned to Australian regulation and global best practice
  • Partner closely with Product and Technology teams to embed compliance into product design and client journeys from day one
  • Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical, scalable controls and guidance
  • Lead compliance risk assessments, monitoring programs and remediation activities
  • Act as a key point of contact with regulators, including AUSTRAC
  • Provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior leadership on regulatory risk and compliance strategy
  • Build, mentor and develop a high‑performing compliance team in Australia
  • Support internal and external audits and manage regulatory engagements
  • Champion a strong culture of integrity, accountability and compliance across the business

About You

  • Proven experience in crypto, digital assets or blockchain compliance, ideally within Australia
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian AML/CTF obligations, privacy and financial services regulation
  • Experience building or scaling compliance frameworks in fast‑moving or emerging regulatory environments
  • Confident people leader with a track record of mentoring and developing teams
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to balance regulatory risk with business growth
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Clear, confident communicator who can simplify complex regulatory issues
  • Learning‑oriented, adaptable and values‑driven

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Experience across multiple jurisdictions or global operating models
  • ICA, ACAMS, CISI or similar compliance/AML qualifications
  • Prior designation as AML/CTF Compliance Officer or MLRO
