About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. We’re looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn’t a place for complacency, it’s where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Broker-Dealer Operations team is responsible for the accurate processing, settlement, and safeguarding of customer assets across our brokerage platform. We partner closely with Clearing, Finance, Securities Lending, ACATS, and external market utilities to ensure timely trade settlement and compliance with regulatory requirements. Our work directly supports customer asset protection and regulatory integrity, including compliance with SEC Rule 15c3-3 (Customer Protection Rule). The team values accountability, precision, and continuous improvement in high-volume operational environments.

As a Securities Processing Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of equity transactions and the firm’s ongoing compliance with possession or control requirements under SEC Rule 15c3-3. You will independently manage complex settlement activity, aged fails, and segregation deficit remediation while serving as a subject matter resource within broker-dealer operations. This role requires strong technical expertise across DTCC systems, sound judgment when resolving exceptions, and the ability to coordinate effectively with both internal teams and external counterparties. Your work will directly contribute to reducing settlement risk, curing deficits promptly, and maintaining strong operational controls that protect customer assets.

This role is based in our Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Lake Mary, FL, or New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you’ll do

  • Manage daily fail control functions, including trade settlement, buy-ins of aged fails, and completion of daily settlement reconciliations.
  • Monitor and cure 15c3-3 segregation deficits, complete required segregation reporting, and escalate material exposure risks in a timely manner.
  • Partner with ACATS, Securities Lending, Finance/FinOp, and Clearing teams to resolve breaks, reconcile discrepancies, and reduce aged exposure.
  • Coordinate directly with street counterparties, the Depository Trust Company (DTC), National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), and other third-party vendors to resolve failing trades and possession or control exceptions.
  • Oversee and validate daily entries, adjustments, and corrections within the brokerage platform to ensure accurate books and records.
  • Maintain and enhance operational controls that support customer asset protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce settlement breaks, improve reporting accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation, standard operating procedures, and best practices across settlement and possession or control workflows.

What you bring

  • Series 7 license required.
  • 4–7 years of experience in brokerage operations, with direct exposure to equity settlements, fail control, and SEC Rule 15c3-3 possession or control requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing settlement risk, buy-in processes, aged fail resolution, and segregation deficit remediation.
  • Strong working knowledge of DTCC systems including DTC, NSCC, Obligation Warehouse, and SMART/Track (or related DTCC suite applications).
  • Ability to independently prioritize high-volume workflows, meet daily deadlines, and adapt to changing regulatory or market conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex settlement issues to internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail when reviewing reconciliations, exception reports, and regulatory calculations.

What we offer

  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance-driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
