As a Merchant Risk Data Analyst, you will support the Credit Risk team by delivering high-quality data analysis, monitoring, and insights that enable effective merchant risk decision-making. The role focuses on portfolio monitoring, exposure analysis, reporting, and early-warning indicators.

You will work closely with Credit Risk, Onboarding, Fraud & Monitoring, Sales, Compliance, and Finance to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that help protect the business from financial losses while supporting sustainable growth. A key part of the role is improving and automating risk monitoring and reporting processes, including the use of Excel (VBA), SQL, and BI tools. This role is well suited to a strong data analyst who wants to work at the intersection of payments, merchant risk, and business decision-making, with clear visibility into how data influences real outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring the merchant portfolio and key risk indicators such as credit risk ratings, chargebacks, refunds, disputes, payout velocity, and exposure metrics.
  • Identifying trends, anomalies, and early-warning signals that may indicate deteriorating merchant performance or increased financial risk.
  • Supporting risk tiering and segmentation with data-driven insights.
  • Building, maintaining, and improving recurring risk reports (daily/weekly/monthly) for Risk and senior stakeholders.
  • Designing and maintaining dashboards that provide clear visibility into portfolio health and key KPIs.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and transparency across reporting outputs.
  • Performing ad-hoc analyses to support merchant risk reviews, risk appetite discussions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Translating analytical findings into clear recommendations for Credit Risk and other non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partnering with Credit Risk to evaluate the impact of changes in policies, thresholds, or controls.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate monitoring, reporting, and data extraction processes.
  • Supporting improvements in risk tooling, data pipelines, and internal systems to increase efficiency and scalability.


What we are looking for:
  • 4–6 years of experience in data analysis, risk analytics, BI, or a comparable analytical role.
  • Relevant academic background in economics, finance, engineering, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and structured analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
  • Solid experience with BI/data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • VBA experience for Excel automation (macros, data transformation, reporting workflows).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of merchant risk drivers, financial exposure, and early-warning indicators, or the ability to learn these quickly.
  • Experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, or financial services is a strong advantage but not required.
  • Python (or similar) for data analysis and automation is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to credit risk, merchant risk, or financial risk concepts is a plus.
