The M365 Modern Workplace Architect is a strategic technical leader responsible for designing and optimizing enterprise wide Microsoft 365 solutions. The role blends deep technical expertise with architectural vision to deliver scalable, secure, and user focused services across the M365 ecosystem.
The M365 Modern Workplace Architect leads the design, governance, and improvement of collaboration and business platforms such as SharePoint Online, Viva, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and Copilot. This role ensures solutions are aligned with business needs, promote productivity, and support innovation.
A key responsibility is maintaining tenant health and guiding tenant to tenant integration strategies to keep content and business solutions optimized, compliant, and future ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and govern SharePoint Online environments, including intranet portals, team sites, and document management solutions.
  • Lead Power Platform governance and solution architecture, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI/Fabric.
  • Design and implement Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Agent solutions, ensuring alignment with content architecture and data governance.
  • Oversee Microsoft Viva deployment and integration with SharePoint and Teams (e.g., Viva Connections, Topics, Learning).
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards, templates, and best practices for content and business solutions.
  • Lead the architectural planning and roadmap development for M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Power Platform integrations.
  • Lead architectural reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement DLP, retention, and data classification policies via Microsoft Purview.
  • Partner with business units to understand requirements and deliver scalable, low-code/no-code solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to SharePoint, Power Platform, and BI engineers.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex incidents and performance issues.

Security & Compliance

  • Define and enforce security baselines for M365 services, including conditional access.
  • Collaborate with Information Governance and CSG on DLP, and information protection.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with data residency, retention, and audit requirements.
  • Perform regular security assessments to ensure secured environment.

Leadership & Enablement

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for M365 engineers and administrators.
  • Partner with business units to understand needs and translate them into scalable M365 solutions.

Integration & Automation

  • Lead architectural reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement automation solutions using PowerShell, Power Automate, and Graph API to streamline operations and reduce manual overhead.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with Microsoft’s roadmap and emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate new features and recommend adoption strategies that align with business value.
  • Identify and address technical debt and architectural gaps.

Salary for this role is: $115,000-$165,000

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in Information Science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 content and business solution platforms.

  • Deep expertise in SharePoint Online, Power Platform, and Microsoft Viva.

  • Experience with Power BI administration and Microsoft Fabric.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio.

  • Strong background in information architecture, governance, and user adoption strategies.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skill; with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and business functions. - Business acumen in proposing feasible business solutions.

  • Self-directed; highly motivated with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

  • Knowledge in the area of NIST compliance strongly desired.
