⭐ Mission:
Join us as Lead Risk & Compliance Engineer to lead a team of 4 data engineers at the heart of Qonto's Risk Compliance department — turning complex, multi-market data into reliable reporting, sharp risk indicators, and AI-powered tools that keep Qonto compliant and one step ahead.
The data your team produces lands directly on the desks of governance committees, R&C teams, and regulatory institutions across all Qonto markets. You'll work closely with Gauthier Marquand, Head of Risk Analytics Model Governance, to multiply team output and lead our shift toward AI-augmented data operations.
⚡ Impact:
You will work closely with Gauthier, our Head of Risk Analytics Model Governance, and lead a team of 4 (including 2 interns) within a department that sits at the intersection of data engineering, financial compliance, and AI adoption.
👩💻🧑💻 As a Lead Risk & Compliance Engineer at Qonto, you will
-
Reduce data errors and late delivery by deploying Claude Code for SQL generation and review — within 6 months, measurably fewer Red Bins and missed deadlines
-
Stand up team management from Day 1: implement ticket dispatch, run 1:1s, track performance KPIs, and roll out Qonto Way / Red Bins with your team of 4
-
Build and ship data models in DBT to production — owning end-to-end delivery of reporting and risk indicators for governance committees and ANC teams
-
Document everything: within 6 months, all reporting and tools have an audit trail — reducing redundant rework and ensuring regulatory compliance
🤔 What you can expect:
-
A team that ships like a tech team: DBT in production, end-to-end ownership, no hand-offs
-
AI already in the stack: Claude Code is live for SQL generation — your job is to scale that adoption across the team and the broader RC department
-
A blank-slate operational challenge: no dispatch process, no continuous improvement loop yet — you'll build it from scratch
-
Cross-market data diversity: transactional, customer, regulatory, product usage — across all Qonto markets, with direct visibility at governance committee level
🤝 About your future manager
-
Gauthier Marquand — Head of Risk Analytics Model Governance. Hands-on technical leader who built the AI foundation the team runs on. He'll be a peer in terms of data engineering depth — but he needs you to own team operations independently from Day 1. Expect high standards, technical conversations from the start, and a manager genuinely invested in getting this right
🏅About You
-
Advanced SQL + DBT in production: you write and debug complex queries, build DBT models with lineage and tests, and ship them to prod — not just locally
-
Team management (1 year min.): you've run a small technical team, tracked performance, and led by example — technical profile strongly preferred over pure manager
-
Rigor & AI fluency: compliance data errors have consequences — you have processes to catch them, and you're genuinely excited about what Claude Code can do for your team
-
Curiosity: you learn unfamiliar data models fast and never stop asking why
-
Languages: English mandatory; French strongly preferred
At Qonto we understand that true diversity isn't just about ticking boxes on a hiring checklist. Apply regardless of the boxes you tick! Who knows? You may have the missing piece of the puzzle we've been searching for all along.
