Your Opportunity
We’re looking for a Lead Engineer - Data Platforms to join our Technology Risk & Governance - Enterprise Data Services team.
In this role, you’ll leverage your technical skills to develop, maintain, and support innovative solutions that solve real-world challenges in the payments industry. From designing and building scalable systems to ensuring seamless integration with key technologies, your work will directly impact millions of users.

Build and enhance data integration platforms using Big Data technologies to enable efficient extraction, loading and transformation of data from multiple sources.
Optimise ETL workflows and system performance, ensuring reliability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Drive governance and compliance by implementing policies, managing risk, and overseeing configuration changes in line with enterprise standards.
Work with complex data structures to deliver approved solutions, maintain application support, and respond swiftly to incidents to ensure system availability.
Lead and inspire teams by modelling inclusive leadership, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring a safe, respectful, and engaging workplace aligned with company values.
Drive talent and performance outcomes through effective workforce planning, clear role definition, and implementation of HR frameworks for hiring, development, succession planning, and performance management.
Embed strong risk management practices by identifying, assessing, mitigating and monitoring risks, ensuring timely reporting of incidents and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Integrate governance into daily operations, collaborating with experts, maintaining accurate risk records, and driving adherence to organisational policies and standards.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you’ll have:
Proven expertise in cloud-based data platforms with 9+ years of experience designing, building and managing large-scale environments.
Hands-on experience with leading cloud technologies – proficiency in at least one major platform (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Strong foundation in data modelling using approaches such as Kimball, Inmon or Data Vault to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
Practical experience with modern data warehousing tools like Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift or BigQuery, and a solid understanding of Data Lake and Data Warehouse techniques.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage incidents, perform root cause analysis, and apply change and release management best practices.
Advanced skills in SQL and Python, plus strong data modelling expertise to design scalable, well-structured solutions.
Hands-on CI/CD experience using Terraform Cloud and GitHub to automate, test and deploy data workloads.
Proven ability working with large, event-driven datasets, navigating diverse schemas and delivering reliable, performant pipelines.
Experience with “analytics as code” tools (DBT) to standardise transformations, improve data quality and enable repeatable, version-controlled workflows.
You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have some of the following:
Experience in the financial services or payments sector
Experience working within PCI-DSS compliant environment.
Knowledge of agile methodologies and have worked in a product led organization.
Knowledge of Software Delivery and Development Lifecycle techniques and methodologies
