International Tax Manager

As International Tax Manager you will ensure that our direct and international tax structure is well set up for our continued growth and global expansion. It’s a critical role responsible for executing key components of Adyen’s global tax strategy and serving as the primary owner for the EMEA region.

This position requires solid experience with direct tax and international tax law, tax provisioning and a good understanding of transfer pricing. 

You will work closely with the Direct Tax & Transfer Pricing Lead to drive global projects while ensuring tax efficiency and compliance across our European markets. You will also partner closely with other tax team members, finance, legal, regulatory and the business to ensure tax efficiency and compliance worldwide. This role is part of our central tax team based in Amsterdam. 

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the EMEA region, driving the tax structure and compliance and ensuring it is set up for further growth and scalability.
  • Lead high-impact direct tax and international tax projects globally (e.g., Pillar 2 or product rollouts) aligned with the global tax agenda.
  • Manage tax audits, as and when they arise 
  • Optimize and streamline direct and international tax operational processes
  • Automate manual tasks to ensure that the direct and international tax function (incl. related compliance) is as efficient as possible
  • Drive tax provisioning initiatives, review and automate tax provisions and review direct tax returns
  • Monitor changes in local tax laws and assessing their impact on the business
  • Manage projects with both internal and external stakeholders

Who you are

  • You have five to ten years experience in direct & international tax
  • You’re passionate about all things direct and international tax and love to share your knowledge in a simple and non-complex way with non-tax colleagues
  • You take ownership and enjoy driving multiple projects involving a wider range of stakeholders
  • You have experience with working on complex direct and international tax matters
  • You’ve experience with tax accounting and transfer pricing or willing to learn
  • You have excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate tax into practical and scalable business solutions
  • You have a mindset of constantly improving, automating and scaling
  • You’re a team player and gain a lot of energy from working together with a broad group of colleagues to achieve Adyen’s goals
  • In-house experience as an international / regional manager or experience at a regulated financial institution is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch corporate income tax and withholding tax rules is highly desirable, given the central nature of the Dutch entity in the global structure.
