This is a senior, hands-on product leadership role for a veteran in payments performance, fraud, and compliance in emerging markets. What will I be doing?Own the Payments Performance vision and strategy
- Define how Fraud, Compliance, Routing, and Anomaly Detection together maximize TPV and conversion while keeping fraud, chargebacks, and regulatory risk under tight control.Translate company and Payins/Payouts strategy into a clear, multi-year roadmap for Payments Performance (platforms, capabilities, and core metrics).
- Translate company and Payins/Payouts strategy into a clear, multi-year roadmap for Payments Performance (platforms, capabilities, and core metrics).
Lead Fraud Prevention products
- Own our fraud decisioning stack: scoring, rules, policies, and orchestration across cards and APMs.
- Drive the shift from heavy, per-merchant rules to modular, ML-driven defense strategies with clear separation of scoring, policy, and decisioning.
- Partner with Fraud Ops to define SLAs, explainability, playbooks, and automation that reduce manual workload while protecting CR and chargeback KPIs.
Lead Compliance decisioning & automation
- Own the transactional compliance stack: sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and transactional KYC/KYT for Payins and Payouts.
- Build a real-time, API-first compliance platform with configurable policies per country and product, strong auditability, and minimized false positives.
- Partner with Compliance leadership and Data Compliance to prioritize automation (L1 agents, doc extraction, autoclose models) and support initiatives like data localization and new regulatory regimes.
Lead Routing (smart routing & orchestration)
- Own routing and request orchestration across card acquirers, APM processors, and payout routes, optimizing for approval rate, cost, latency, and resiliency.
- Define routing policies (by BIN, issuer, merchant segment, country, payment method) and work with Payins/Payouts product teams to embed routing as a shared platform.
- Partner with Data and Engineering to run controlled experiments and roll out smart routing and retry strategies at scale.
Lead Anomaly Detection & Alert Manager as a platform
- Own Alert Manager as the company-wide hub for alerts, routing, and workflows across Payins, Payouts, Fraud, Compliance, and Ops.
- Scale anomaly detection models (CR, volume, rejection mix, latency, provider health) across more metrics, segments, and products while controlling false positives.
- Drive the evolution from simple alerting to automated diagnostics and actions, enabling domain teams to plug in their own automations and runbooks.
Drive AI-first automation across performance and risk
- Partner with AI & Decisions Engineering to design agents and automation for L1 investigations, RFI handling, narrative generation, and alert triage.
- Prioritize initiatives that meaningfully reduce manual work (Fraud Ops, Data Compliance, CS, Ops) while improving consistency and auditability.
Lead and grow the Payments Performance product team
- Build, lead, and coach a team of Product Managers across Fraud, Compliance, Routing, and Anomaly Detection.
- Set high standards for discovery, documentation, experimentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Create strong collaboration rituals with Engineering, Data, AI, Compliance, Fraud Ops, CS, Payins, and Payouts teams.
Own metrics and governance
- Define and track core KPIs: CR/approval rate uplift, TPV protected/recovered, fraud & chargeback rates, false positive rates, time-to-detect and time-to-resolve incidents, manual workload reduction, regulatory/audit findings.
- Use these metrics to prioritize the roadmap and communicate impact to leadership and partners.
What skills do I need?Deep payments performance, fraud & compliance experience
- 10+ years in product management in payments/fintech, including owning complex performance / risk platforms (fraud, AML/TM, routing, or monitoring).
- Significant experience (5+ years) in fraud prevention and/or compliance decisioning (sanctions, TM, KYC/KYT) for Payins and/or Payouts, ideally in emerging markets.
- Strong understanding of authorization flows, chargebacks, AML concepts, sanctions screening, TM, KYC/KYT, and routing.
Emerging markets expertise
- Proven track record improving payments performance (CR, TPV) across multiple emerging markets (LATAM, Africa, APAC, or similar).
- Comfortable navigating local regulations, scheme rules, data localization, and infrastructure constraints with Compliance and Legal.
Platform and data/ML leadership
- Experience owning horizontal platforms (decisioning engines, routing engines, alert managers, or monitoring platforms) used by multiple product teams.
- Strong data and experimentation mindset; comfortable working with Data Science/ML teams to ship and iterate on models in production.
- Clear examples of turning ML and analytics into productized capabilities (policies, configs, APIs, tools) rather than one-off analyses.
People & cross-functional leadership
- Experience leading and developing Product Managers; you know how to build a high-performing, mission-driven team.
- Excellent stakeholder management across Engineering, AI, Compliance, Fraud Ops, CS, Payins, Payouts, and Finance.
- Clear, concise communication in English; able to interface directly with senior leaders, regulators (when needed), and strategic merchants.
Mindset
- Builder mentality: you are comfortable with ambiguity, roll up your sleeves, and ship.
- Obsession with merchant and end-user impact, not just internal metrics.
- Fluency in leveraging AI tools and data products to design better decision systems, automate operations, and accelerate the quality and speed of execution for you and your teams.
- Bias for outcomes over output, with a strong sense of ownership for the Payments Performance business.
