The Role

As Pepperstone’s Head of Product Engineering, you will step into a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our global technology evolution. This is your opportunity to shape how world-class digital trading products are built, scaled, and continuously improved in a fast-moving, product-led fintech environment.

Reporting to our CTO, the role will provide inspiring technical and people leadership across our global product engineering practice, empowering geographically distributed teams to deliver impactful, customer-centric technology at pace. Accountable for execution excellence, you will ensure our platforms are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with both our growth ambitions and regulatory commitments.

The role will work closely with senior leaders across Trading, Crypto, Data, Cloud, and Information Security to strengthen our technology foundations and unlock new opportunities for scale.

The role can be based out of Limassol(Cyprus) or Budapest (Hungary). Relocation package provided for the successful candidate.

As our Head of Product Engineering, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

• Define and evolve the engineering delivery approach to support Pepperstone’s strategic objectives, in close partnership with the CTO.
• Oversee engineering across core product streams, including website, onboarding, payments, and account management, ensuring platforms are highly available, performant, and secure.
• Drive execution of transformation initiatives, ensuring effective prioritisation, resource optimisation, and budget stewardship.
• Build, lead, and retain a high-performing global engineering organisation, providing strong mentorship and performance leadership.
• Continuously mature the engineering function by improving efficiency (including AI adoption), transparency, reporting, and delivery processes.
• Set and uphold engineering standards covering quality, security-by-design, documentation, and testing practices.
• Champion reliability engineering practices and partner with broader Technology teams to enhance resilience, observability, and incident response.
• Balance feature delivery with technical debt, BAU, and unplanned work to maintain healthy and sustainable engineering capacity.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Cloud, Security, and Data leaders to ensure cohesive, enterprise-wide technology outcomes.
• Oversee technical vendor relationships and evaluate external technology solutions where appropriate.
• Manage engineering budgets, licensing, and workforce planning.

About You

• 7–10 years’ experience in senior engineering leadership roles, ideally within financial services, fintech, or online trading environments.
• Deep expertise in modern engineering organisational design, contemporary software development methodologies, and Agile delivery practices.
• Proven experience leading leaders and managing large, globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Demonstrated success scaling engineering capability in fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environments.
• Experience with modern technology stacks including React, NextJS, Kafka, Postgres (RDBMS), and architectural patterns such as microservices and containerisation.
• Strong knowledge of adjacent technology domains, including AWS cloud computing, container orchestration platforms, and cybersecurity principles.
• A track record of driving innovation and leading significant technical change across an organisation.
• Solid understanding of financial markets and regulatory frameworks (experience in regulated environments highly regarded).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Ability to champion Pepperstone’s operating principles and foster a high-performance, values-led culture.
• Willingness to travel internationally and operate flexibly across global time zones.
