About the Role- As an Engineering Manager, you will lead multiple cross-functional software development teams (10-15 engineers) responsible for designing and maintaining high-scale, cloud-based solutions in the fintech and payments ecosystem. You will combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical direction to oversee the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring delivery excellence, reliability, global scalability, and alignment with business strategy. This role requires balancing people leadership, technical guidance, and operational execution to build innovative, secure, and scalable digital products.
Key Responsibilities - Team Leadership & People Management:- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams, fostering innovation, ownership, and accountability
- Build and mentor engineers working on new product initiatives and platform enhancements
- Promote a positive team culture through open communication, continuous learning, and career development
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional growth
- Act as a mentor and technical sounding board for engineers at all levels
- Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource allocation across multiple projects
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership & Architecture- Lead backend teams working with Node.js TypeScript, and AWS
- Participate in technical planning, architectural reviews, and selection of appropriate tools and technologies
- Drive engineering quality, code review culture, and architectural alignment across teams
- Ensure hands-on technical expertise to guide teams on event-driven services and cloud-native architectures
- Champion best practices for building low-latency, high-availability, and high-performance solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions aligned with business needs
Key Responsibilities- Process & Quality Excellence- Oversee project execution across all phases of the SDLC, ensuring code quality, security, scalability, and performance
- Define and enforce Git workflows, CI/CD standards, and continuous delivery best practices
- Champion agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) to improve team adaptability, velocity, and responsiveness
- Ensure compliance with development best practices, security standards (PCI-DSS), and IT governance protocols (ITIL)
- Implement and maintain engineering quality metrics, code review processes, and testing automation
- Define, track, and report on OKRs and KPIs, aligning engineering goals with company-wide strategic objectives
Requirements- Experience- 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role
- Proven track record managing multiple distributed development teams (10-15+ engineers) and complex projects in high-growth environments
- Demonstrated success delivering event-driven services and cloud-native solutions at scale
- Experience managing teams in fintech, payments, or similar regulated industries (preferred)
Requirements- Technical Expertise - Hands-on technical background in Node.js and TypeScript
- Deep understanding of cloud computing and cloud-native architecture (AWS preferred: EKS, Lambda, ECS, S3)
- Proficiency with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redshift)
- Strong expertise in Git, CI/CD automation, and cloud principles. Familiarity with front-end and back-end development technologies
- Understanding of system security, PCI-DSS compliance, and secure software development practices
Requirements-Leadership & Management Skills- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in global and distributed team environments
- Proven ability to build and scale high-performing engineering teams
- Strong business and technical communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus)
- Experience with agile methodologies, SDLC practices, and team performance measurement
- Ability to balance technical depth with people management and strategic thinking
- Track record of fostering innovation, ownership, and a continuous improvement in culture
Requirements- Process & Tools- Hands-on experience with agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and continuous improvement practices
- Proficiency with source control (Git/Bitbucket), issue tracking (JIRA), and project management tools
- Experience defining and tracking OKRs, KPIs, and engineering metrics
- Understanding of IT governance protocols and compliance frameworks (ITIL, PCI-DSS)
- Ability to implement and scale engineering standards and best practices across teams
Additional Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments with changing priorities
- Experience working in global, multicultural teams
Preferred/Advantage- Experience in fintech, global payments, or payment connectivity with acquirers, gateways, and APMs
- Experience scaling engineering practices across multiple teams and geographies
- Knowledge of observability practices, monitoring tools, and site reliability engineering (SRE)
- Background managing teams working on high-volume transaction processing systems
- Experience with Python, Java, C++, or other programming languages
- Understanding of security compliance requirements in regulated industries
- Track record of successful technical hiring and team building.
