About the Role
  • We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Country Manager to lead our operations in Ghana. The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of the Ghanaian payments ecosystem with strong leadership, operational excellence, and partnership management skills. You’ll be responsible for driving business growth, establishing key partnerships, and ensuring compliance while aligning local operations with the company’s global objectives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement the country strategy, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals.
  • Create and execute the operational roadmap for Ghana, establishing infrastructure and processes to support business growth.
  • Continuously improve operational capabilities and optimize pay-in/pay-out channels to enhance efficiency and conversion rates.
  • Identify, build, and maintain strategic relationships with partners — including banks, payment processors, acquirers, and regulators — to unlock growth opportunities.
  • Assist with/in commercial negotiations and execute partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams — Product, Tech, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial — to drive integration, operational alignment, and synergy across initiatives.
  • Analyze performance metrics, customer insights, and market trends to identify opportunities for optimization and business improvement.
  • Leverage data-driven strategies to improve operational efficiency and conversion performance.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to local laws and licensing requirements.
  • Engage with regulators, legal experts, tax professionals, and other stakeholders to maintain compliant and sustainable operations.
  • Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and professional networks to enhance brand visibility and build influence within the Ghanaian market.
  • Stay ahead of market and regulatory developments, applying local insights to strengthen strategic positioning and growth.


Technical & Leadership Skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and manage ambiguity.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Expertise in Ghana’s payments or financial systems, with a solid network across the local ecosystem.
  • Strong negotiation skills for structuring and optimizing commercial agreements.
  • Strategic thinker with a bias for execution and operational excellence.
  • Excellent analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within Ghana’s financial landscape.
  • Self-starter with a positive, adaptable, and growth-oriented attitude.
  • Technical proficiency (API-based systems, payment platforms) is a plus.


Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in fintech, banking, or financial services, ideally with early-stage or scaling businesses.
  • Proven experience leading country operations, partnerships, or expansion initiatives.


Educational Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).


Must-Have Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in banking, fintech, or both.
  • Proven partnership management and commercial negotiation experience with banks, acquirers, or APM providers.
  • Experience in regulatory licensing and operations/compliance management.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghana’s market dynamics, regulatory environment, and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborative leadership style and ability to manage cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in launching or scaling fintech operations within emerging markets.
  • Exposure to cross-border payments, remittances, or digital financial services.
  • Existing relationships with Ghanaian regulators, banks, and payment partners.
  • Track record of data-driven decision-making and performance optimization.
