About the team

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Corporate Counsel to join our global Corporate Legal team. You will guide and advise the business on a wide range of contracts, proactively counseling the company on strategic contractual matters; providing early-stage disputes advice and contributing to broader corporate project work.

The role requires someone with experience acting as trusted advisor to senior commercial stakeholders, and a strong drafting and negotiation background across a variety of commercial agreement types. Ideally, you will also have experience with corporate projects and technology contracting.

The successful candidate will strike the balance between taking ownership of their deal work and projects while also proactively seeking assistance from colleagues in the Corporate Legal team.

In this role, you will be based in New York, or willing to relocate to New York. The Corporate Legal team operates as a global team with staff in the Netherlands and the United States. An ideal candidate will have a passion for our business and you would like to contribute to its mission to ensure the further growth of Adyen.

We are a culture first team: everyone is empowered to work flexibly as best suits the individual but we ask that all team members enjoy actively contributing to our team success and strive for a balance between working from home and engaging with colleagues in the office.

What you will do:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to, vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and technology contracts and bespoke agreements to support novel commercial arrangements.
  • Provide early-stage disputes advice and support on potential contractual conflicts, aiming for resolution before escalation.
  • Collaborate with business teams to understand their needs and provide strategic, practical, business-oriented legal advice on contracting approaches.
  • Advise key stakeholders on corporate projects and initiatives, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Engage with and manage external counsel on complex transactional matters, as needed.
  • Keep up to date with developments in commercial law and relevant industry regulations, strategically advising the business of developments in the field.

Who you are:

  • You have 4+ years of post-qualification experience with time spent at a reputable private practice law firm.
  • You have strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, with a solid understanding of contract law principles.
  • You are a team player who likes to collaborate and include different people to sharpen your ideas.
  • You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and build and drive processes to completion.
  • You enjoy critically considering process flows and seeking to improve efficiency wherever possible.
  • You are available to work from our New York office.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
