Unlimit is looking for a Card Scheme Manager to join our international fintech team, based in Belgrade (Serbia) or Limassol (Cyprus).


In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and scaling our card acquiring business globally. You will work closely with leading Card Schemes (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, JCB, and others) to ensure full compliance, support existing card acquiring methods, and drive the launch of new card products across multiple regions.


You will act as a trusted expert and partner for internal teams, providing guidance on Card Scheme rules, translating complex requirements into practical solutions, and helping the business grow safely and sustainably. This role offers strong exposure to international markets, complex acquiring setups, and cross-functional collaboration within a fast-growing fintech environment.


To succeed in this role, you will work closely with Product, Compliance, Card Processing, PSP, Legal, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring that business initiatives are fully aligned with Card Scheme requirements while enabling sustainable growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify relevant Card Scheme rule updates that could impact compliance and reputational risk
  • Support ongoing and targeted compliance monitoring against Card Scheme rules
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and control frameworks to ensure ongoing adherence to card scheme regulations and industry standards.
  • Engage regularly with internal stakeholders to translate scheme requirements into practical solutions.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with card scheme mandates, proactively managing risks and securing waivers when deadlines cannot be met.
  • Respond to non-compliance notifications raised by Card Schemes 
  • Provide guidance and ongoing assistance to internal teams, including Underwriting, Account Management, PSP, Processing around Card Scheme rules and requirements
  • End-to-end management of Acquiring: Mastercard, Visa and etc. including the technical implementation and analyse of the technical documentation
  • Effectively document business/technical requirements and understand operational processes


Requirements:
  • 4-5 years of experience with Card Schemes, Merchant Acquiring, PSP
  • Strong knowledge of Visa/Mastercard rules, with specific experience in Card Not Present Payments
  • Proven ability to navigate Card Scheme relationships and compliance issues
  • Ability to convince colleagues and stress the importance of compliance requirements to protect our brand
  • Solid communication skills, specifically you will be able to connect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and merchants from varying disciplines and cultures
  • Strong and effective leadership skills and ability to operate comfortably and independently within a complex cultural, global environment 
  • Fluent in English


Will consider as a plus:
  • Experience in merchant underwriting, with a strong focus on high-risk merchant portfolios 
  • Understanding of high-risk business models and associated risk drivers In-depth understanding of regulatory and card scheme requirements
