How do we work?

The Middle Office Manager is a critical role in supporting OANDA Japan’s business operations. This position ensures the efficient processing of trades, customer statements, and business records and facilitates effective communication across OANDA Japan’s business operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a good understanding of regulatory requirements governing financial products and market operations. In this challenging and dynamic environment, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with OANDA Japan’s Management Team and the broader Japan team to contribute to OANDA's business growth. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage financial market expertise and play a key role in shaping and executing OANDA's growth strategies for its retail trading businesses and other products in Japan.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead projects focused on optimizing workflows and enhancing service delivery.

Reporting, Statements, and Records:

  • Prepare and analyze system incident reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy of customer statements and web disclosures.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records and documentation for all requirements related to OANDA Japan's products and services.

Operational tasks:

  • Configuration and administration of OANDA’s financial technology systems and platforms, including MetaTrader 4, 5, and other trading systems
  • Running a global impact analysis in case of an incident, for example, client compensation
  • In rare scenarios, providing cover for the Incident Management team, running response and coordination

Cross-Department Collaboration:

  • To ensure seamless operations, serve as a bridge between OANDA Japan and
  • the Global teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other teams to improve systems and processes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge, & Experience):

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a middle office, back office, or trading environment in the financial industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, particularly OTC derivatives.
  • Data analysis background or experience with database applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Native level Japanese language skills.
  • Business-level English language skills.
  • Results/Goal Oriented – consistently exceeds targets.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong sense of commitment.
  • Energetic, open-minded, and results-oriented.

  • Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams while demonstrating sound judgment and decisiveness.
  • Proficiency working with small to medium-sized sets of data in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Knowledge of the retail FX and CFD market, vendors & technologies is beneficial.
  • Working with MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 configuration & administration for at least 1 year is beneficial.
  • Experience with a retail aggregation platform configuration (oneZero, PrimeXM, Integral) is beneficial.
  • Proficiency working with issue-tracking and documentation suites such as JIRA/Confluence, or TFS/SharePoint, is beneficial.
