Pocket Prep

Pocket Prep is a learning platform for people whose careers, and the lives they touch, depend on what they know. Our small team of 40 is passionate about helping our customers pass certification exams. Often a stressful and expensive barrier to career advancement, Pocket Prep strives to prepare our members to pass their exam the first time with confidence. We're 10+ years old, 100% profitable without investor backing, and we continue to have year-over-year growth because what we’ve built works.

We have served millions of nurses, firefighters, EMTs, social workers, and other professionals for whom the exam was an overwhelming and career-defining milestone. Come help us reach millions more.

Product at Pocket Prep

We are a bottom-up culture where product teams are empowered to determine the path to results through experimentation and collaboration with strong partners in design, engineering, education, and marketing. We emphasize accessibility, affordability, and quality in our products, with a laser focus on the customer. We're looking for a Senior Growth Product Manager to help more learners get value out of our product, stick with studying, and come back to us throughout their career.

About the Role

You'll lead product-led growth across onboarding, activation, retention, and LTV, working closely with our Product and Growth teams to find the seams where better product experience drives better outcomes. That means talking to customers constantly, digging into data obsessively, and running experiments to find what works. You'll work in a product trio with a designer and an engineer, with real autonomy to identify opportunities, form hypotheses, and test and build your best bets.

We're looking for someone who is energized by collaboration and autonomy, and whose confidence and creative problem-solving have led to successful outcomes in consumer products.

What You Will Do

  • Own the customer journey outcome. Drive free-to-paid conversion, activation rate, and post-exam re-engagement as your north star metrics.

  • Reduce product friction. Analyze user behavior to identify where there is friction and drop off, and run experiments with your product trio to fix it.

  • Build and test retention features. Design, ship, and iterate on features that build lasting study habits.

  • Run a continuous discovery practice. Conduct ongoing customer interviews and assumption tests to stay close to user needs and validate ideas before building.

  • Manage the full product lifecycle. Lead the project team and processes from opportunity identification through shaping, development, release, and post-launch analysis.

  • Report on growth KPIs. Track and communicate squad metrics to the team and leadership; identify what's working and what isn't.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner with engineering, design, marketing, and customer support to deliver cohesive experiences.

  3. Hands-on experience running A/B experiments
