Purpose & Scope
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role in establishing and supporting our New Zealand business unit. This role will report directly to the local Managing Director and will be instrumental in building our finance team’s processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily accounting records for brokerage business activities, including securities, futures, and options.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of client money in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and trend analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Support external audits, regulatory compliance activities, internal controls, and process improvements to enhance governance and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and subsidiary-level financial reports.
  • Ensure all financial activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide ad hoc business support and reporting as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with full CA or CPA qualification completed.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, covering financial and management accounting as well as reporting — ideally within the financial services or equities market.
  • Strong tax knowledge, with the ability to manage in-house compliance requirements effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all financial work.
  • Experience using Oracle and Xero accounting systems is highly desirable.
