With Intelligence (part of S&P Global), is seeking a sharp, reliable and business-savvy journalist based in Sofia to join our international news team covering mergers and acquisitions (M&A) on our established brand - The Deal. The writer will be responsible for summarizing press releases, market rumors, and other relevant news around dealmaking activity, helping support a U.S.-based editor and broader newsroom. This is a high-volume, deadline-driven role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the production and authoring of 5–10 short news summaries per day (typically 200–300 words each) focused on M&A announcements, deal rumors, press releases, earnings calls, and related market developments.
- Monitor press wires, business media, regulatory filings, and other aggregated sources for relevant items.
- Communicate with U.S.-based editors and reporters to coordinate coverage priorities.
- Engage with external sources by email and phone to verify information or request clarification.
- Create and maintain structured data records based on editorial content to support the datafication of news coverage.
- Ensure accuracy, speed, and clarity in all published content and associated data entries.
- Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent English comprehension, including the ability to quickly interpret and summarize complex information from press releases, filings, and news reports.
- Exceptional writing proficiency, including grammar, clarity, style, and journalistic tone.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Prior experience in news writing, preferably in business or financial journalism.
- General understanding of financial markets and key M&A terminology.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently while meeting tight deadlines.
- Applicants must have existing authorization to work in Bulgaria; The Deal, by With Intelligence, will not provide visa sponsorship or work permit assistance for this role.
- Prior experience in news writing, preferably in business or financial journalism, a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a newsroom environment or writing for a live news desk.
- Experience writing in a professional editorial or content production setting.
- Familiarity with structured data entry or editorial tagging systems.
- Experience using press release distribution platforms, regulatory databases (e.g. EDGAR), or financial data tools.
- Understanding of how editorial content can support data products and structured intelligence.
- Willingness to work U.S. Eastern Time hours: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM EET.
- You have experience collaborating with international teams and are comfortable working across multiple time zones and digital communication platforms.
