The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join our organisation in the Consumer Finance Underwriting department.
As a key member of our Loan Underwriting department, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the wider Underwriting department, as well as collaborating closely with other departments to mitigate risk and maximize departmental performance outputs.

Responsibilities:
1. Area Management:
· Lead and motivate to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
· Ensuring departmental documents, e.g. Underwriting Manuals, Guides & Policies are kept up to date.
· Deliver Underwriting of new business in line with Credit policies
· Leading on Underwriting related projects and products, ensuring customer impact and operations is carefully considered
2. Underwriting Oversight:
· Oversee the underwriting performance using exception and MI reports to identify system failures and potential gaps
· Review underwriting files, credit reports, income documentation, and other relevant information to assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
· Make informed credit decisions ensuring compliance with company policies and lending guidelines.
3. Risk Assessment:
· Conduct regular customer account reviews to ensure a continuous feedback loop back into Senior Management to mitigate risk and identify issues with current processes.
· Continuously review consumer duty controls to ensure Good Customer Outcomes for the department.
4. Process Improvement:
· Continuously evaluate and refine underwriting processes to enhance efficiency, productivity & loan performance.
· Identify opportunities of continuous improvement to streamline workflows, automate manual tasks, and implement best practices.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Operations, Compliance, and Credit Risk, to drive process improvements and ensure seamless operations.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
· Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to underwriting.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
6. Reporting and Communication:
· Prepare and present regular reports on underwriting performance, including key metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
· Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, such as senior management to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide updates on loan underwriting status.
