POSITION OBJECTIVE
As the MLRO & Compliance Officer for our Swiss operations, you will be the appointed Money Laundering Reporting Officer under the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) and lead the local compliance function.
You will manage all aspects of AML/CFT, licensing, and regulatory engagement, including expertise in the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) regulations, particularly for Self-regulatory organisations (SRO), and the rules for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational compliance, ensuring the business meets its regulatory obligations while enabling innovation and growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain existing SRO registration in good conduct with regulators.
- Lead and develop the Swiss compliance team, ensuring alignment with the group's compliance strategy and global policies.
- Collaborate with product, technology, operations, and legal teams to embed compliance requirements in business processes and product design, particularly for digital asset offerings.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators (SO.FIT) and law enforcement agencies.
- Oversee company-wide AML/CFT, VASP, and conduct training tailored to different business units.
- Ensure Swiss operations integrate seamlessly with regional and global compliance frameworks.
- Represent the Swiss compliance function in governance forums and risk committees.
- Prepare and submit quarterly performance reports, regulatory returns, and STR/SARs to SRO and MROS.
- Represent the company in Switzerland as registered Organ.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline (Master's or professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, ACAMS preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, risk, or legal roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within Swiss financial services, fintech, or virtual assets.
- Proven track record as MLRO or Deputy MLRO in Switzerland, preferably with experience in the crypto or fintech space.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA)
- FINMA regulations and Circulars
- FINMA supervision of FIs and VASPs
- FATF recommendations
- Experience managing licensing processes and regulatory engagements.
- Fluency in English and French is required; proficiency in German or Italian is a strong asset.
