Your Role:
As a Lead Software Engineer-Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for leading and implementing robust automation frameworks and strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of our fintech products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers, to identify testing requirements, develop test plans, and execute automated tests throughout the software development lifecycle.
You will contribute and mentor the QA team by example with strong hands-on experience across a complex systems architecture. This is a senior role in which the successful candidate will drive some of our most complex projects in addition to providing and managing the strategic direction.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement automation strategies, frameworks, and tools, including Robot Framework, to drive effective testing of our fintech products.
- Lead the design and development of automated test scripts and test suites, for web-based, Api and mobile applications, ensuring high test coverage and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate automated tests into the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, enabling rapid and reliable deployment.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of system requirements and technical specifications to identify areas for automation and define appropriate test scenarios.
- Perform hands-on testing of complex features and functionalities, utilising both manual and automated testing techniques.
- Proactively identify and report defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution and retesting.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior members of the QA team, fostering their growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation testing, and advocate for their adoption within the organisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the development process, promoting a culture of quality excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 6-10 years of Experience in Quality Assurance and minimum 2 years of experience in people management role.
- Strong programming and automation skills, with expertise in developing and implementing automation strategies, frameworks, and tools (e.g., Robot Framework, Selenium, Appium, PyTest) to enhance the efficiency and reliability of testing fintech products.
- Proven experience in designing and building automated test scripts and suites for web, API (REST Assured, Postman), and mobile applications (Appium, BrowserStack), ensuring high coverage and adherence to best practices.
- Extensive experience collaborating with software engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, enabling rapid and reliable deployments.
- Hands-on experience analysing system requirements and technical specifications to identify automation opportunities and developing test scripts using Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Skilled in functional, regression, and integration testing using both manual and automated techniques, including SQL-based database validations.
- Proactively identify, report, and track defects using JIRA and TestRail/Zephyr, ensuring timely resolution and effective retesting.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior QA engineers, fostering their growth in automation scripting, CI/CD integration, and debugging techniques.
- Up-to-date with emerging technologies, frameworks, and best practices in test automation, performance testing (e.g., JMeter), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to embed quality in every phase of the development lifecycle, promoting a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to lead and mentor QA teams across multiple locations (UK and India).
