Head of Dealing

The Head of Dealing is responsible for leading and overseeing the firm’s trading and execution function. This role ensures best execution, effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across all dealing activities. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, manage dealer performance, maintain counterparty relationships, and support investment and treasury objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Execution Oversight

  • Lead and supervise all dealing and execution activities across asset classes (e.g., equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives, options).
  • Ensure best execution practices in line with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Monitor trading performance, slippage, and transaction costs.
  • Approve large or complex trades and manage market impact.

Risk Management

  • Oversee trading risk exposure, including market, liquidity, and counterparty risk.
  • Establish trading limits and escalation protocols.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks.

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement dealing desk strategy aligned with the firm’s objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop dealing team members.
  • Foster a high-performance, disciplined, and ethical trading culture.
  • Evaluate and improve dealing processes and systems.

 Counterparty & Broker Management

  • Maintain and negotiate relationships with brokers, liquidity providers, and counterparties.
  • Review and manage broker performance and allocation.
  • Conduct periodic counterparty due diligence.

Technology & Systems Oversight

  • Oversee trading platforms, OMS/EMS systems, and market data tools.
  • Work with IT to implement system upgrades and automation initiatives.
  • Ensure business continuity plans for trading operations.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all dealing activities comply with applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and internal reviews.
  • Maintain proper trade documentation and reporting standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 8–15+ years of trading/dealing experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, trading instruments, and risk management principles.
  • Experience managing multi-asset trading desks preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to trading activities.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are an advantage.

Licensing

  • CMFAS modules (e.g. M1A, M2A, M5, CM-EIP, CM-SIP) are good to have.
  • Candidates without all required modules may be considered, subject to training and licensing requirements after joining.

Language & Communication

  • Ability to read and type Chinese is required for operational communication with overseas counterparts (e.g. Shenzhen).
  •  Language capability is required strictly for job-related operational needs and not a general role requirement.
