We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Credit Risk to oversee and continuously optimise our credit risk frameworks, policies, and portfolio performance across Europe.

This role sits at the intersection of risk, data science, and commercial strategy, playing a critical role in ensuring sustainable and profitable growth for our B2B Payments solutions. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will have ownership over credit performance, risk appetite setting, and portfolio steering, with direct impact on our bottom line and investor confidence.

🚧 What you’ll do

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of credit risk frameworks, policies, and strategies for our B2B portfolios across Europe.
  • Own and manage the monitoring and reporting of portfolio performance (loss rates, exposure at default, recovery rates, etc.), providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership and investors.
  • Establish and manage credit risk appetite frameworks that align with company growth objectives and funding constraints.
  • Oversee the end-to-end credit lifecycle, from onboarding policies through in-life monitoring to collections and recoveries.
  • Drive portfolio segmentation, limit setting, and exposure management across industries, geographies, and client types (SMEs to Mid-market / Enterprise).
  • Collaborate closely with Data Science, Legal, Finance, and Commercial teams to continuously improve credit decisioning models, scorecards, and policies.
  • Support new product development and market expansions by assessing and mitigating associated credit risks.
  • Serve as the primary interface with funding partners, insurers, and rating agencies on matters relating to portfolio performance and risk appetite.
  • Lead a small but high-calibre team of risk professionals and analysts fostering a culture of proactive risk management and commercial partnership.

🏅What you need to succeed

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in a multi-geography environment within Credit Risk Management for B2B Lending, Trade Credit, BNPL, Working Capital Finance, or Corporate Banking.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk lifecycle management, portfolio steering, and risk-adjusted performance metrics (EL, PD, LGD, EAD, IFRS 9, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in setting and steering credit risk appetite within fast-paced, growth-stage or scale-up environments.
  • Solid underwriting expertise gained from leading trade credit insurers, with a strong grasp of risk evaluation frameworks, sector analysis, and exposure management is ideal.
  • Exposure to - or collaboration with - data science, credit modelling and analytics teams in the development of credit decisioning models.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including interactions with executive leadership, funding providers, and insurers.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Analytical, data-driven mindset with exceptional ability to translate data insights into actionable risk strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen; ability to balance risk and reward in a growth-driven environment.
  • Skilled in portfolio monitoring, reporting tools, and performance dashboards (SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of credit risk models, methodologies, and regulatory frameworks relevant to B2B lending and trade finance.
  • Leadership and team management capabilities; able to inspire, challenge, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable operating at board level and with external partners.
  • Business Fluent English (C1+), additionally Dutch or German ideal.
