The Financial Controller will oversee financial operations for Benin and multiple Francophone African countries, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. This role involves managing accounting records, mitigating financial risks, publishing accurate financial statements, and coordinating audits across diverse jurisdictions. The position requires strong strategic planning, leadership, and analytical skills to support organizational growth through sound financial strategies, robust internal controls, and effective regional financial planning.

Scope of Coverage

This role will cover Francophone countries in West and Central Africa, including but not limited to:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Guinea, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Madagascar, Mauritania, Comoros.

What you will do

  • Prepare and publish accurate financial reports for Benin and other Francophone entities.
  • Consolidate financial data across multiple jurisdictions under OHADA and IFRS frameworks.
  • Manage cash flow, ensuring timely collections and vendor payments across countries.
  • Coordinate statutory accounting, tax filings, and social security obligations in compliance with local laws.
  • Ensure adherence to OHADA accounting standards (SYSCOHADA) and local GAAP.
  • Oversee financial administration for local offices.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls across multiple entities.
  • Prepare income statements, participate in budgeting processes, and support FP&A activities across the group.
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks in diverse regulatory environments.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes regionally.
  • Develop and implement plans for financial growth and operational efficiency.

What you will bring

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional Certifications: ACCA, ACA, CIMA (international qualification required); local CPA highly valued.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3–5 years in finance management.
    • Auditing experience (Big Four or reputable audit firm preferred).
    • Exposure to multinational environments; experience in tech or financial institutions is an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred).
    • Fluent in French and English (mandatory for Francophone coverage).
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS, OHADA, and local GAAP.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Additional Requirements for Francophone Coverage

  • Familiarity with OHADA legal and accounting framework (applies to 17 Francophone countries).
  • Understanding of local tax regimes, social security systems, and compliance requirements in West and Central Africa.
  • Ability to travel across multiple countries for audits, compliance checks, and team coordination.
  • Cultural adaptability and experience working in diverse environments.
